Camps at Gembrook Primary School

The Gembrook Camp Program endeavours to promote the development of our students’ independence and self-reliance, in addition to fostering such social skills as co-operation, tolerance, leadership and environmental awareness.

 

The program aims are:

  • To provide an opportunity for students to experience the richness of camp communal life in a variety of environmental settings.
  • To give students the opportunities to further develop friendships and relationships with fellow students and teachers in a different setting
  • To reinforce the school values of respect and high expectations in another setting.

To provide Camp/Outdoor Education experiences which promote the values of independence, safe risk taking, having a go, respect and community

The camps for 2024 are:

Grade 3/4: camp Alexandra Adventure Resort

Alesandra Adventure Resort is 7km from the town of Alexandra and is an adventure activities camp in a farmland setting.

The camp runs a variety of fun activities including high and low ropes course, orienteering, gaga pit, bocce, disc golf and raft building.

Grade 5/6: camp CYC Phillip Island

CYC Phillip Island is situated on 2.5 hectares of landscaped gardens, CYC The Island is nestled in the heart of Cowes, within strolling distance of safe sandy beaches, the picturesque coastal township and a short drive to Phillip Island’s world-renowned tourist attractions.

The camps for 2023 were:

Grade 3/4: camp Manyung Mt Eliza

Camp Manyung is a coastal adventure camp located on the Mornington Peninsula and only one hour from Melbourne.

The camp runs a variety of fun activities including archery, the flying fox, the giant swing and a beach carnival – students enjoy the best of the sun, sand and sea at camp.

Grade 5/6: Camp Woorabinda

Somers School Camp – Woorabinda Campus is a government residential school located on the shores of Lake Narracan in the LaTrobe Valley.
The camp is situated on 100 Hectares of native bush, open paddocks, hidden wetlands and temperate rain forest.

The camp provides values-based learning environment with a strong focus on personal development, resilience and perseverance. 

The camp programs in environmental studies, sustainable practice, team building initiatives and challenging adventure activities.
